Are aesthetic medicine treatments painful?

Generally, they are well tolerated, have a short duration, and local anesthetics are often used to reduce discomfort. Sedation or deeper anesthesia is usually not required.

What are the possible side effects caused by fillers?

Localized redness at the injection site may occur and usually fades within a few hours. In the days following the treatment, about 20% of cases may experience a small bruise if a capillary has been broken; these are generally minor and resolve quickly.

What are the main contraindications for those approaching aesthetic medicine for the first time?

It is advisable not to have serious ongoing chronic diseases or conditions that have not yet been fully diagnosed, such as neoplastic, cardiac, or nervous system diseases. Collagen diseases (such as scleroderma) require a very cautious approach but do not necessarily exclude all treatments. It is important to inform the doctor about any ongoing therapies and known allergies to medications or foods.

Are aesthetic medicine treatments reversible?

Injectable treatments are reversible: the effects of fillers and botox wear off over a variable period between 4 and 6 months. Other treatments, however, are permanent, such as photoepilation and treatments for the removal of acne scars and skin spots.

Are there different product ranges, and how can we learn which ones are the best?

There are different ranges of injectable products. Today, the largest and most reputable pharmaceutical companies offer high-quality and very safe products. I always recommend asking for the name of the product used and, if unsure, researching the manufacturer, product quality, and guarantees beforehand.
